About WAWander

Your companion for Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way

WAWander is a free travel companion for the Wild Atlantic Way — the 2,500-kilometre touring route that follows Ireland's west coast from Malin Head in Donegal to Mizen Head in Cork, and on through the peninsulas of the southwest. It grew out of a simple problem: the route has hundreds of signposted stops, and there was no good way to keep track of the ones you'd seen, the ones you'd loved, and the ones still waiting.

What you'll find here

Our location guides cover the great stops of the route — the cliffs, beaches, islands, mountains and headlands that define the west coast — with practical detail on how to get to each one, what to see when you're there, and what to know before you go. The guides are free to read, no account needed.

Track your own journey

With a free account, WAWander becomes your personal record of the route. Hundreds of locations — every major stop and Discovery Point from Donegal to Cork — are pinned on an interactive map where you can:

  • Mark each location as visited and build your progress, county by county
  • Add your own notes and memories to every stop
  • Upload photos — the best community photos appear on our public guides
  • Plan multi-stop routes for your next trip along the coast

Community photos

Many of the photographs on our guides are contributed by travellers using WAWander. Every submitted photo is reviewed before it appears publicly, and contributors always keep ownership of their images — see our Privacy Policy for details.
