Terms of Use
Last updated: July 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Use govern your use of the WAWander website and mobile application (together, the "Service"), operated from Ireland. By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of these terms.
2. Your account
You can read our location guides without an account. To track visits, add notes or upload photos you must register with a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, notes and other content you submit. By uploading content you grant WAWander a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and reproduce it for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service — for example, showing an approved photo on a public location guide with a community attribution. You can delete your content, or ask us to, at any time.
Photos are reviewed before they appear publicly. You must only upload content you created or have the right to share, and it must not include identifiable people without their consent, or anything unlawful, offensive or misleading.
4. Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts or our infrastructure.
- Do not scrape, harvest or bulk-download content or data from the Service.
- Do not use the Service to distribute spam, malware or unlawful material.
- Do not interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Service.
5. Our content
The location guides, text, design and branding of the Service are owned by WAWander or its licensors and are protected by copyright. You may share links to our pages freely; you may not republish our content commercially without permission. Map data is provided by OpenStreetMap contributors and CARTO under their own licences.
6. Travel information — use your judgement
Our guides describe coastal and mountain locations that can be genuinely hazardous: unfenced cliff edges, tidal beaches, exposed paths and fast-changing Atlantic weather. Information is provided in good faith but conditions, access, opening times and prices change. Always check locally, heed signage and warnings, and travel at your own risk. WAWander is not responsible for injury, loss or damage arising from your reliance on information in the Service.
7. Advertising and third-party services
The Service is free to use and supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. Pages may also load maps and privacy-respecting analytics. Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Availability and changes
We provide the Service "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time, and may update these terms by posting a revised version on this page. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licences already granted for published material, disclaimers and liability limits) survive it.
10. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WAWander's total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to €50. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Irish law.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute relating to them.
